There is less work involved with an integrated CAM system and that may be it, more direct transfer and less to be input by hand.I think alibre could be a viable option, however I chose a different route because in my opinion their CAM options are scary.
In my case, it has never been an issue, because we just send the file to the vendor in whatever form they want (IGES, STEP, etc) and they handle it without issue. I am not yet sure why the poster could not export that way as well. However, it is a valid opinion, whether misinformed or reality-based. The response might be different if it is due to misinformation. Alibre Cam Software Software Out ThereLots of modelling software out there that costs less than AD, both 2D and 3D. And since hes a machinist (which is a pretty broad statement) its possible his needs are quite simple. AD ACAM. adds up cost-wise. I asked him what he went with and what he found scary with the CAM for Alibre. Well see. He was using Fusion, which apparently has CAM in it, but needs to get out of that. The documentation could be a little clearer as regards capabilities. They have been using BobCADCAM in our tooldie shop since 2009. ![]() Im not completely sure whether to try solidworks cam or not, it seems rather clunky. Alibre Cam Software Driver At ThisThe main driver at this point in moving away from fusion is the time spent clunking around because stuff changes or doesnt work after a few months, in regards to cam. Also large assemblies just dont work very well in fusion, and my pc isnt really a slouch. Im guessing the developers have 1gb fiber newest machines and dont really grok how stuff is. About Alibre, do you know any shops that use MecSoft or Ezcam The other option is Sprutcam, and its not a real integration. Someone elses reply to that: Well SWCAM is CAMWorks which is the first SW CAM Gold Partner and has been well proven you just have to make sure you setup the technology data base and tool crib first. Alibre Cam Software Upgrade To SWCAMSo if you are paying SW subscription why not use it youre paying for it (2.5 axis only) if you need more advance operations you either have to upgrade to SWCAM pro to CAMWorks its self.
